Just about everyone I know is planning to go to England next weekend for the IAS event (International Association of Scientologists).
I have never gone to one of these, but I think I will this time.
There is just so much buzz about how great it's going to be, plus I think David Miscavige will probably be at the grand opening of the Church of Scientology of London, which is supposed to take place the next day.
Some of my friends have gone over to work on the renovations of the building and they tell me it is utterly incredible.
So as I will want to see it some time anyway, I guess I might as well go next weekend, when the eyes of the world are on the place.

Copenhagen
I've been to Copenhagen twice -- once in 1996 for about 3 months and then just for 2 days a year ago.
Both of them were on business trips, but I love traveling on business almost more than taking vacations. You learn so much and I find I get too bored when I'm just being a tourist.
Both times I was there, I spent some time at AOSH EU. It is such a beautiful building. And I was really impressed that after almost 10 years it was as beautiful and looked as brand new as it did in 1996 (it had only been renovated about a year or so when I was there in '96 but it still looked like they'd just moved in, 10 years later.)

South African Scientologists
In addition to servicing the Scientologists of Europe, AOSHEU trains the Scientologists of South Africa as well.
A couple of years ago the Church of Scientology of Johannesburg in South Africa opened in new premises. This was an event that touched Scientologists from all over the world. Through the years of Apartheid, many Scientologists worked to expose and correct the human rights crimes in that country. And with the fall of Apartheid a new era began, not only for South Africa but for Scientology as well.
David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board of Religious Technology Center, was a very special guest speaker at the grand opening. In his speech he related anecdotes the time L. Ron Hubbard spent in South Africa and Mr. Hubbard's dreams and aspirations for the country.

Beautiful New European Scientology Churches
In the latest event, shown at Scientology churches around the world last weekend, Europe was featured with tons of new missions and two beautiful new buildings purchased in Italy.
David Miscavige, Chairman of the Board of Religious Technology Center, showed a montage of 43 missions opened just since January, including missions in France, the UK, Czech Republic, Russia, Italy, Slovakia and Hungary.
Then Mr. Miscavige went into greater detail on the new churches that were being created in Pordonone and Torino Italy. He gave the back story, showing how the Church had found the properties and raised the funds to buy them, and then showed awesome animated presentations of the way the buildings will look when restoration and renovation is complete. It was so interesting watching the way they put this together. For example, in Torino, where the church has purchased a large rambling estate that used to be a monastery and orphanage, they showed the way the chapel looks now, and then segued into the way it will look when restoration is complete.
They went through the whole building showing now and how it will look when done.
It was so exciting.
You can see from the plans that a third of the building is set aside for spaced to introduce new people to Scientology and provide services for them. There is so much more attention on reaching out with Scientology solutions to the community and society.
And the buildings are so beautiful!
David Miscavige has delivered speeches at the Grand Openings of a number of these new churches, such as the Church of Scientology of New York, San Francisco, Buffalo and South Africa. You can read his speeches and see how these new churches fit into the purpose to accomplish the Aims of Scientology: A civilization without insanity, without criminals and without war, where the able can prosper and honest beings can have rights, and where man is free to rise to greater heights
